We all have dreams and aspirations. But are you on the path to making them reality?

Often, it seems like we’re stuck in a hamster wheel, running in circles but not getting anywhere.

You bust your hump day in and day out, but the progress seems minimal, almost non-existent.

You’re not alone. Many people feel this way.

It’s easy to get caught up in the everyday hustle and lose sight of the big picture, of where you want to be in 10 years.

But what if there was a way to change that? What if you could be ahead of everyone else in 10 years’ time?

According to ultra successful people, there are 10 things you need to stop doing now if you want to be ahead in the future.

Ready to join their ranks? Let’s dive in.

1) Procrastinating

It’s safe to say that we’ve all procrastinated at one time or another. I remember back in college, I had a huge project due.

But instead of starting early and planning out my work, I left it until the last minute.

The result? A rushed job and a less-than-stellar grade.

Procrastination is a common pitfall for many of us. It’s easy to push tasks off until “later,” but successful people know that “later” often becomes “never.”

By eliminating procrastination, we can stay on top of our goals and keep moving forward.

2) Being scared to fail

Letting go of the fear of failure is a big step towards becoming really successful.

When we’re not scared of messing up, we’re more willing to try new things and take risks. This is important because every mistake teaches us something and gets us closer to our goals.

Think about it: if you’re not afraid to fail, you’ll try more and learn faster.

Getting over this fear also makes us more creative. We’re free to think outside the box and find new solutions because we’re not worried about everything being perfect the first time.

Plus, making decisions gets easier. Instead of worrying about what could go wrong, we focus on what could go right and take action.

Lastly, when we’re not held back by fear, people see us as confident and strong. This can lead to more opportunities and support from others.

In short, by not letting the fear of failure control us, we open up a whole world of possibilities that can lead to big success.

3) Spending time with negative people

Did you know that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with?

That’s right. If you’re constantly surrounded by negativity, it can hinder your progress and pull you down.

Ultra successful people understand the importance of surrounding themselves with positivity and those who inspire them.

By cutting out negativity, we open ourselves up to a more positive mindset and a better chance at success.

4) Ignoring your health

There was a time when I placed everything above my own well-being. Work, social commitments, even the latest Netflix series.

The result was burnout, exhaustion, and a serious health scare.

The lesson was clear: Health is wealth. No amount of success is worth it if you’re not around to enjoy it.

Physical fitness, mental well-being, proper nutrition – they all play a crucial role in our ability to achieve our goals.

So let’s start taking care of ourselves. After all, we only get one shot at this life. Let’s make it count.

5) Trying to please everyone

I used to be a people pleaser. I thought that by saying yes to everything and everyone, I could avoid conflict and keep everyone happy.

But all it did was leave me feeling drained and unfulfilled.

The truth is, you can’t please everyone. Being willing to be disliked is a powerful move that can help you reclaim your focus and energy.

Ultra successful people know this. They understand that their time and energy are valuable, and they don’t let others dictate their choices.

Learning to say no was one of the best things I’ve done for myself. It allowed me to focus on what truly matters – my goals, my happiness, and my journey to success.

6) Doubting your worth

In my early career, I battled with self-doubt. I questioned my abilities and often felt like a fraud. It was a crippling mindset that held me back from pursuing opportunities.

If you want to be ultra successful, recognize your worth. Acknowledge your strengths, embrace your flaws, and continuously strive for improvement.

Remember that you’re deserving of success, no matter what your inner critic says.

7) Ignoring your passion

Here’s a question for you: Do you take time to pursue what you love? Do you even know what it is?

It would be nice to have a job that we’re passionate about. But the reality is, we can’t always have a job that inspires a lot of passion in us.

Sometimes we have to settle for something that pays the bills because those bills won’t wait around while we reach for the dream job. And that’s okay.

Because you can pursue your passion in other ways. It could be a hobby or volunteer work. And who knows, it could open doors and lead you to a career that combines both passion and paycheck!

Whatever your job is right now, don’t forget to leave room for your passions. Loving what you do is a huge part of success.

8) Living in the past

It’s easy to dwell on past mistakes or missed opportunities. But doing so only keeps us stuck in a cycle of regret and prevents us from moving forward.

Ultra successful people understand that the past is a place of reference, not residence. They learn from their mistakes but don’t let them define their future.

Stop living in the past. Learn from it, let go, and focus on the present moment – it’s the only one you have control over.

9) Resisting change

Change is scary. I’ve been there – clinging to comfort zones and fearing what lies on the other side of change.

But here’s the thing, and you probably already know this: change is inevitable and often necessary for growth.

Ultra successful people see change not as a threat, but as an opportunity for growth and innovation. They adapt, evolve, and are always ready for the next challenge.

We need to stop resisting change and start embracing it. After all, the only constant in life is change.

10) Neglecting personal growth

For a long time, I thought success was all about external achievements – a high-paying job, a big house, a fancy car.

Well, I was wrong. As I found out over the years, true success lies within.

That’s why ultra successful people prioritize personal growth. They invest time in:

  • Learning new skills
  • Developing their character
  • Nurturing their relationships

The best investment you can make is in  yourself — so strive for more in terms of your knowledge, your skills, and your character.

11) Waiting for the perfect moment

I used to wait for the “perfect” moment to start a project or pursue a dream. But guess what? That moment never came.

Successful people don’t wait for the perfect moment; they make the moment perfect. They seize opportunities and make things happen.

So forget about the perfect moment. Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can. Your future self will thank you.
