If you display these 9 traits, you have a very deep personality

As my grandmother used to say, it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round.
Some people like to keep things light and splash around in the shallows. Others prefer to get into the depths.
I don’t mean that literally; I’m terrified of deep water.
But there’s no denying that some people have deeper personalities than others.
And sometimes, you can tell by a person’s character traits whether they are a deep person or not.
If you’re wondering if you have a deep personality, ask yourself if you display these character traits.
If so, you might be a deep thinker.
1) You’re introverted
Introverts are people who get energy from being by themselves, and lose energy from being around others.
That doesn’t mean they don’t like other people. But it does mean that introverts are happiest when alone or with small groups of people they know well.
You don’t have to be an introvert to have a deep personality. But it is quite common that deep thinkers are introverted.
That’s because having a deep personality means you have lots to think about, and a quiet environment away from everyone else is the best place to do it.
If you generally find that you’re happier alone or with just a couple of people around you rather than in large groups and noisy environments, you may well be an introvert.
And you may well be a deep personality, too.
2) You have strong opinions, even if you don’t always share them
Being deep means thinking more than most people do.
And all that thinking has to lead to something.
Deep people tend to have strong opinions that they have given a lot of thought to. That can make it very hard to find a flaw in an argument a deep person makes.
One sign that you’re a deep person is that you have strong opinions that you have thought about from many different angles before coming to a firm conclusion.
On the other hand, deep people are often quiet and introverted.
That may mean you have difficulty expressing your own opinions, especially in a large group.
That doesn’t mean you don’t have them, or that your opinions aren’t valid. It just means you are content to think about them yourself rather than sharing them with others.
And it’s not just the amount of thinking you do that makes you a deep personality. It’s also the kind of thinking…
3) You think about thinking
We all think about various things through the day. But a sure sign of a deep person is that you think about thinking itself.
This is called metacognition, and it is a key part of the thinking a deep personality does.
Deep people aren’t content to just have an opinion, but constantly question why they think what they do and look for contrasting arguments. They also question their own thinking processes.
If you spend a lot of time thinking about thinking itself, you’ll probably quite a deep person.
4) You are observant
“That woman has two different shoes on.”
“I didn’t notice that.”
That’s a conversation I had with a friend while we were sitting at a sidewalk café.
If you have lots of conversations like that, there’s a good chance you have a deep personality.
Here’s why:
Deep people notice everything, from the trivial details of their environment to the word choices people make when they talk.
Partly, it’s because deep people aren’t distracted by gossip or other trivial matters, giving them more time to pay attention to and think about the world around them.
And partly, it’s because…
5) You love to learn
A powerful brain needs something to feed on constantly.
Deep people are always thinking, so they love finding new things to think about.
That doesn’t necessarily mean deep people are formally educated.
But it often means that deep people love reading, traveling, or watching educational movies and TV programs.
It also means that deep people often prefer having conversations on intellectual topics rather than chatting about trivial things like the weather or their workplace.
Often, deep thinkers are much more comfortable discussing the mysteries of the cosmos or the details of history than they are chatting about TV programs.
But don’t make the mistake of thinking that means deep people are boring, because…
6) You have a sense of humor about yourself
Being able to laugh at yourself is a major sign of intelligence.
It’s also a good sign that your ego isn’t completely out of hand.
Deep thinkers are intelligent. And often, because they spend so much time thinking about themselves and the world, they have a very good sense of humor, especially about themselves.
After all, it’s hard to be too arrogant when you can’t forget that you are just one of 100 billion people who have lived on this tiny planet in an otherwise insignificant corner of the galaxy.
Deep people have deep thoughts, but that doesn’t prevent them from finding the humor in the everyday and being able to laugh at themselves.
And that sense of humor helps in other ways…
7) You cultivate deep and meaningful relationships
Deep people are often introverted, so they rarely have large groups of friends. But the friends that they do have are often extraordinarily meaningful to them.
Deep thinkers aren’t interested in superficial friendships that cost them time and energy to maintain for little reward.
Instead, deep people seek out genuine connection with others so that they can share their unusual thoughts.
This can lead to extremely deep and meaningful relationships that are limited in number but incredibly rich.
If you prefer to surround yourself with just a few people that you are extremely close to rather than a bunch of acquaintances you don’t really know that well, there’s a good chance you have a deep personality.
8) You’re absent-minded
Deep personalities are always thinking.
On the other hand, they can often be forgetful or absent-minded.
Deep personalities often tend to forget things like birthdays and anniversaries and easily misplace car keys, phones, and other small items.
That’s because so much of their cognitive power is devoted to big ideas about the world around them. It’s very easy for a deep person to get caught up in their powerful thoughts and become distracted from the mundane details of the world around them.
Luckily, deep people are generally able to find the humor in this and laugh at themselves about it.
9) You’re a planner
All the thinking deep people do means they often think hard about themselves and their future, too.
Deep personalities tend to have a plan for how they want their lives to be, and can be very good at making their plan happen.
Constantly analyzing their own thoughts and the world around them gives deep personalities an astonishing ability to know what they want from life and to figure out how to get it.
Are you a deep personality?
Being a deep thinker can manifest itself in lots of different ways. And deep thinkers know there are always exceptions to every rule.
Nevertheless, if you exhibit some of these traits, you are probably a deep thinker.
And if you display all of them, you almost certainly are.
That’s a great thing to be.
